Understanding Use

The iPlant Collaborative: A Cyberinfrastructure-Based Community for a New Plant Biology

Participation in research study "The iPlant Collaborative: A Cyberinfrastructure-Based Community for a New Plant Biology" is strictly voluntary. The following is the text provided to users who register to use any of iPlant Collaborative's applications and services:

"You are being invited to voluntarily participate in the above-titled research study. The purpose of the study is to gather data about your use of iPlant's applications and services. You are eligible to participate because you use one of iPlant's applications and services and are creating (or have created) a login ID.

If you agree to participate, your participation will involve authorizing the iPlant Collaborative to track your use of the system.

Any questions you have will be answered and you may withdraw from the study at any time. There are no known risks from your participation and no direct benefit from your participation is expected. You can create a login ID without participating in the study. There is no cost to you except for your time.

Only the principal social science investigator and her research team will have access to the information that you provide. In order to maintain your confidentiality, your name will not be revealed in any reports that result from this project. Data will be stored on a secure server.
