Weijia Xu joined TACC in April 2007 as a research associate in TACC's Data and Information Systems group. Prior to joining TACC, he obtained a master's degree in Biological Sciences and a doctoral degree in Computer Science from The University of Texas at Austin.

Weijia's main research interest is information management and analysis, especially in the field of bioinformatics. He participates in researching new data analysis techniques, particularly those related to effectively handling data in the multi-gigabyte to multi-terabyte range. He is also interested in developing and deploying data analysis tools on high performance computing and visualization platforms.
